Winning Communication Arts Photography Competition Can Jump Start a Career

PHOTOGRAPHERS. If you want a chance to have your images seen by a worldwide audience of designers and art directors who commission photography, enter the Communications Arts Photography Competition. Many successful photographers say that winning the competition helped advance their careers.

The deadline for entering this year’s competition is March 16, 2012. There is a $35 fee per single-image entry ($70 per series). Each entry submitted after March 16 requires a $10 late fee. No entries will be accepted after Marc h 30.

Any photograph first printed or produced from March 2011 through March 2012 is eligible, whether it was used for advertising, books, print sales, institutional use, multimedia, or self-promotion. Unpublished personal, commissioned, or student photos are also eligible for the competition.

A nationally representative jury of distinguished designers, photo editors, photographers, and art directors selects the award-winning entries. The 2012 jury includes:

  • James Genell, associate creative director, Leo Burnett USA
  • Sarah Leen, senior photo editor, National Geographic
  • David Meredith, principal, Pilot NY
