Book Shows Artists Creative Ways to Use Photoshop

ARTISTS. A new book entitled Photoshop for Artists: A Complete Guide for Fine Artists, Photographers, and Printmakers is scheduled to be released October 2.

Written by artist Sylvie Covey and published by Watson-Guptill, the book explores some of the Photoshop tools that painters, photographers, and printmakers can use to enrich, enhance, and transform their imagery.

In four accessible sections, Covey includes tutorials that provide artists with inspiring ideas they can apply to their own work. The book features

  • 9 tutorials that show fine artists how to draw and paint digitally;
  • 14 tutorials on photography, digital-darkroom, and artistic Photoshop techniques; and
  • 5 tutorials for printmakers who want to combine printmaking techniques with digital photography.

Each tutorial features screenshots and detailed directions, so artists can see exactly how the specific effects are achieved and applied to artwork.

From start to finish, “Photoshop for Artists” features Covey’s dramatic visuals, as well as innovative works by her contemporaries and students.  The book is available for pre-order on Amazon.
